What to do now, draw?!?!?

Before moving on an telling you about the rest of my summer and waiting for the big work experiance oppotunity I received a call from my sister, who sorted me out with the design team at cancer research as one is her best friend, and told me te the girl Hannah who I was meant to be going down and working with had been made redundant which meant I couldn't go down in September and do my work experience.

Leaflet

Here I made a four page leaflet, I was beginning to think that I was out of my depth as I this is way far past my style of working, as I am much much more illustration based and this was far to much type and layout. However I did my best with a lot of help from the brand guide lines and after speaking to kate and telling her I feel a bit out of my depth she thought it was excellent and said there wasn't much that needed changing at all, this time I sent her the files and she touched it up herself.

Final leaflets front and back

Back

Although these dont look like they look a long time, I had been doing them for ages, I had to change everything at least once and I was constantly emailing and calling the girls on the design team.
After I had added the crop marks and bleeds the flyer was ready for the shops and hundred were printed out and used in Cancer Research Shops in London which I was extremely happy about.
I got offered to go down to London and spend a week with the design team and see how they work from day to day. I had planned this for late September just before we went back to uni.

Hannah also got me in contact with another member of her team called Kate, who emailed me,

Design work

I was asked to change the message to

still shouting!!!

My First attempts

Straight away I was emailed back about the guide lines and how they do not use capital letters as it seems like they are shouting at coustomers

The guide Lines

I was asked to create a leaflet for cancer research which would persuade people to get tid of all their winter clothes to make room for the new ones.

I had to follow a lot of guide lines for them and as started the work and kept sending back drafts I realised just how tight those's guide lines. I had to keep referring back to everything just to make sure I got it right.

Her are a few examples, the pdf was huge so I will only show the relavant stuff.

summer 2011

Although summers over i have decided to make this blog now so it is easier to see what I had been up to. Summer was relaxing at the beginning and i enjoyed having time off, unfortunately I hadn't been lucky enough to find any work experience.
I still had a few options that I hadn't heard back form and 2/3 weeks in to the holiday I was glad to hear from a girl called Hannah who work's for the design team for cancer research in London creating the window displays, leafets, flyers, event poster and much more.
